1953 Triumph Mayflower

Introduced by Standard-Triumph in 1949, the adorable Mayflower was envisioned as an upscale small car in the 1 ¼-litre class. It featured a tiny 84-inch wheelbase chassis clothed in distinctly upright razor’s-edge styling that had the flavor of a scaled-down contemporary Rolls-Royce or Bentley. The Mayflower featured a 1,247cc Standard Vanguard side-valve engine, updated with an aluminum cylinder head and single Solex carburetor. It had higher trim levels than similarly sized cars, but was also priced considerably more than the competition. This charming example was originally delivered to the USA via the famed British importers Fergus Motors in New York City. It is smartly presented in Tudor Grey with Dove Grey accents and red upholstery, with suitable upscale details like wide whitewall Firestone tires and chrome wheel covers. The restoration is authentic and well-detailed, making this delightful little Triumph a fine choice for enjoyment in a wide variety of club-level events and casual shows. This vehicle just arrived, and a full description is coming soon. Please contact Hyman Ltd for more details.
