Introduced in 2014, the Mercedes-AMG GT series was the second model after the SLS to be developed entirely in-house by Mercedes-Benz’s high-performance subsidiary. Like the SLS before it, the new GT series did not share bodies with any other standard Mercedes road cars, and the cars were marketed as standalone AMG models. Offered in 2-door coupe, roadster, and four-door fastback coupe form, the GT featured a sophisticated and finely honed chassis, with several engine options including a brilliant and immensely powerful twin-turbocharged 4-liter V8.
The 2018 model year marked the arrival of the highly exclusive GT Edition 50, produced in honor of the AMG division’s 50th Anniversary. Available as either a coupe or roadster, just 50 of each were sold in the USA, with a total global production strictly limited to only 500 units. Each Edition 50 was finished in designo® Graphite Grey Magno paint over Black/Silver Pearl Nappa leather, and equipped with a litany of upgrades - foremost among them was the GT C’s 550-horsepower variant of the Biturbo V8 engine.
This example is one of 50 US-market GT C Edition 50 Roadsters produced and is offered from original ownership with just 4,200 miles from new. It is presented in superb condition, with maintenance history, owner’s books, car cover, and a Clean Carfax report included. The original window sticker confirms this as an Edition 50, with the option package adding nearly $17,000 to the base price. Equipment includes Burmester Surround Sound, Distronic Plus, diamond-quilted upholstery, a special DINAMICA suede steering wheel, AMG Night Package, forged wheels, and Edition 50 badging. The AMG GT C is highly regarded by enthusiasts for its versatility, comfort, and astonishing performance, and this rare Edition 50 will undoubtedly be prized by collectors for years to come.
