1967 Jaguar MK 2 Saloon

After the success of its compact, elegant unit-body Mk I saloon car of the mid- to late-1950s, Jaguar naturally followed it up with the Mk II in late 1959. With more glass, new grille, wider rear track and fitted fog lamps the Mk II featured only subtle external changes from its predecessor, but they were significant enough to merit a new model and the Mk II would go on to enjoy a long and successful production run while gaining a reputation for lively performance not usually bestowed upon a luxury four-door. As for its looks, the Mk II is regarded as one of the most elegant small sedans ever made.

Under the bonnet, Jaguar continued to use its brilliant twin cam sixes, which came in displacements of 2.4, 3.4 or 3.8 liters and had respective top speeds of 96, 120 and 125 miles per hour. Some U.S. market cars were equipped with a Borg Warner automatic, but the more common and more desirable transmission was a four-speed manual with overdrive. Brakes were by power-assisted discs both front and rear, which Jaguar proudly advertised with a badge that featured a red caution triangle and the words “disc brakes” on the rear bumper. With a magnificently appointed interior, ample stopping power and abundant grunt from the XK straight-six as well as the irresistibly curvy and characteristically feline classic Jaguar lines, the Mk II is coveted today by those who appreciate the very best in classic saloon cars.

This 1967 Jaguar Mk II is a later 3.4-liter model that has been fully restored by a knowledgeable enthusiast. Finished in maroon, it has black leather upholstery, chrome centerlock wire wheels and Coker Classic radial whitewall tires. It also includes a newer tool roll with the car’s original tools, a service manual and a JDHT Heritage Certificate. The radiator is a newer aluminum unit, but the original radiator is included. The paint, chrome and interior, including the wood, are all new, as are all the rubber and floor mats. While not a concours car, this Mk II has been restored and fully gone through, including a full sorting of the mechanicals and a detailed engine bay. As a car that looks fantastic and drives great, it is therefore ideal for someone seeking a Mk II Jaguar that is both gorgeous and usable, be it for vintage driving events or casual weekend drives. When it comes to the blending of ample four-door comfort, lively and rewarding performance, and elegant coachwork, the Jaguar Mk II has few rivals and this is a beautiful example.
