The XKE grew up in 1971 with the introduction of the Series III. Powered by a 5343cc overhead camshaft V-12 engine it combined great power and silky performance even while meeting the strict new U.S. emission regulations. Its 9 inch longer wheelbase improved ride and comfort while giving even more interior room, aided by wider wheels and tires and new vented disc brakes. At less than $7,000 landed in the U.S. the Series III E-type continued Jaguar's reputation for superb value for money.
The Series III E-types enjoy a well-deserved reputation for performance and value to this day so it is no surprise that the previous owner of this British Racing Green over Tan leather 1972 Series III E-type, a collector with multiple cars in his stable, regarded it as his favorite driving car, using it regularly and keeping it always ready to hit the road at a moment's notice. It has chrome wire wheels, new tires, air conditioning and a period AM-FM radio. It is, simply, a superb example, good looking, well sorted, consistently maintained by an informed owner and not compromised in any way. It is the ideal acquisition for someone who appreciates a well-maintained, extremely good running and driving, automobile with a reassuring history of caring ownership.
