The Fiat 600 Jolly was designed and built by Italian coach builder Ghia. The Jolly attracted a variety of original owners ranging from Lyndon Johnson to Aristotle Onassis, the latter of whom kept one on his yacht and employed it for transportation when he docked in Mediterranean ports. The Jolly, which means “joker” in Italian, also was a coveted accoutrement for golfers, resort guests, and beach-front estate owners with a sense of style and a sense of humor. It was available in a range of pastels and featured wicker seats and a fringed surrey top. Measuring only 10.5 feet long, the vehicle also came with a relatively hefty price tag, costing nearly as much as many full size vehicles built during the same period. Fiat and Ghia built the Jolly from 1958 to 1969. While most were sold as personal vehicles, about three dozen were sold as taxis to Southern California’s Catalina Island. Alas, all of that fun in the sun and salty air took its toll on the little cars, and today, good examples of the beloved Jolly are scarce and eagerly sought after by collectors.

This 1960 Fiat 600 Jolly is an absolutely exquisite example with a recently completed, no-expense spared restoration. It is powered by the desirable, four-cylinder, air-cooled engine which makes it much more user-friendly than some of the other examples built. The restoration remains in like-new condition throughout with near-perfect paint and chrome. The wicker seats have been expertly restored to original specifications and remain like new, the surrey top is also in perfect condition. The dash assembly was properly restored and all of the gauges and controls present and operate as they should. The engine bay and chassis are well detailed and show little signs of use and the tires are like new. Mechanically, this Jolly runs and drives great. It starts easily and runs smoothly and is a pleasure to drive. This desirable Jolly is ready to drive and enjoy. It will likely become the the focal point of the next owner’s collection or will be a welcomed and desirable mode of transportation for fun summer outings.
