1967 Lancia Fulvia

Originality is the hallmark of Lancia automobiles. They concede little to convention and make absolutely the most of their individuality. In performance, handling and comfort, Lancia’s stand apart as this remarkably original 1967 Lancia Fulvia 1.3 Rally Coupe demonstrates. Power comes from Lancia's favorite engine configuration, a 1,298cc all aluminum V-4 with only a 14 degree vee angle, so compactly built that a single cylinder head covers the hemispherical combustion chambers of both the V-4's banks. The engine is laid over at a 45 degree angle, lowering the Fulvia's center of gravity and making the engine and front wheel drive train unusually easy to access. In Rallye configuration with two dual choke Solex carburetors it's good for 101 brake horsepower and 84 lb-ft torque. The front wheel drive suspension is independent with wishbones and a transverse leaf spring. The rear goes along for the ride with a live axle on semi-elliptical leaf springs, but the combination is so benignly tuned and developed that the Fulvia shows, in all but the most dramatic circumstances, steady, vice-free handling and brilliant responsiveness. Four wheel Dunlop disc brakes complement the engine's performance, a quarter mile time in contemporary road tests in just over 20 seconds. This Fulvia 1.3 Rallye Coupe is a time capsule. It may have been painted once in the distant past but it was such a good job it is impossible to tell from original. There are some chips and the hubcaps are dented but the interior is good and the 69,837 miles on the odometer are quite possibly all it's traveled from new. The engine is orderly and shows no evidence of ever having been out the car. The body is solid, not rusty, not damaged and complete with its important trim details. Inside there is a Blaupunkt AM-FM radio and a floor shift. The colors are black with tan vinyl upholstery and trim and the correct black rubber floor mats. There is a rock chip in the windshield, but beyond that this is a sharp, clean, highly original survivor that is ready to be driven after a full mechanical review. Exceptionally rare, this is a Lancia that will hold its own on a show field or highway but will come into its own on twisty roads where handling and responsiveness are at a premium.
