The 1934 Eleventh Series Packards are recognized by experienced collectors as the best of classic Packard design, performance, quality, ride and handling. The few, exclusive, 12-cylinder cars built are the pinnacle of the Eleventh Series. Offering a full catalog of coachwork including Factory Custom designs and powered by a 160 hp, 322 lb-ft, 446 cubic inch 67-degree V-12 engine with hydraulic valve adjustment and roller cam followers, the Eleventh Series Packard Twelve combined a syrup-smooth driveline with elegant, exclusive coachwork. Total Packard Twelve production in 1934 was only 788 and their performance, luxury and style, particularly the few examples that were bodied with open coachwork, has made them collectors' favorites and very hard to find. This 1934 Packard 1107 Twelve is bodied with the luxurious convertible sedan coachwork Packard cataloged as style 743. It was originally delivered in Peconic, Long Island, a low key summer retreat for New York's wealthy, and was restored in the 1970's in two subtle tones of maroon with red leather upholstery, black cloth top and boot piped in red. It features duel enclosed side-mounts with mirrors, a trunk rack, cormorant radiator mascot, radiator stone guard, footrests, rear compartment floor heater and wind wings. The restoration has been very well preserved even while serving as a frequent tour car for which it has been modified with seat belts, new whitewall tires, high speed rear axle and electric fuel pump. The existing lights have been modified with built-in turn signals and the electrical system employs dual Optima batteries for reliability. Its condition is surprisingly fresh and solid, reflecting both the quality of its restoration and the care it has received. The upholstery is barely used and the interior wood is in fine condition. The top is snug and tight, with blind rear quarters that add to its elegance and discretion when erected. It will cruise at current highway speeds and give immense satisfaction both on the road and in the car park at the end of the day.
