Anton "Tony" Ostermeier built these high quality Gullwing replicas on a modern Mercedes chassis using aluminum reinforced with aircraft epoxy/fiberglass and steel. With a background in aeronautical engineering, Tony crafted parts that were so accurate and of high quality that many were purchased and used 300SL coupe and roadster restorations. In fact his reproduction pieces were so good; he even sold parts to M-B in Germany. Most of the cars built were shipped to Japan and Germany making this car one of only a handful in the United States, and it is thought that only about 50 Gullwings were constructed in total. It is beautifully turned out in super black paint with a comfortable and inviting tan leather interior and has fitted luggage and chrome wheels. It has covered only 4,955 miles from new and is equipped with a modern stereo and air conditioning for comfortable, relaxing driving. Most importantly, it has a 5-speed manual transmission which makes it particularly attractive to a serious driver. This Ostermeier Gullwing looks so much like the original it is virtually impossible to tell them apart and is absolutely the best of classic Gullwing design and modern chassis, conveniences, comfort and reliability.
