1965 Lincoln Continental Lehmann Peterson

Lincoln's Continental was the perfect basis for a stretch limousine. The 430 cubic inch Lincoln V-8's 345 horsepower was up to the task of a stretch's added weight and the bulk of a full load of seven passengers. More importantly, the Continental's austere, longitudinal design was ideal for adding length while preserving the Continental's refined, subtle lines. Lehmann-Peterson began its operations in 1963 with a stretched Continental. In business for only seven years, the company built a continuing reputation for quality and thoughtful design that hailed from founder Robert Peterson's experience as a racing mechanic and crew chief. Peterson made sure the added length was sufficiently strong, yet added little additional weight. In its eight years in business Lehmann-Peterson built only about 600 limousines on all chassis. Just 80 were 1965 Continentals of which some 19 are known to the Lincoln Club. This 1965 Lehmann-Peterson limousine is not only one of those few survivors but it was first owned by one of the most famed and respected musical performers of the day, pianist (and intelligent comedian) Victor Borge and has been maintained in almost completely original and very well maintained condition to this day. Victor Borge was a great talent. Capable of performing with and conducting premier orchestras like the Chicago Symphony, New York Philharmonic and London Philharmonic, Borge simultaneously delighted audiences with his erudite musical comedy routines. His legacy includes his own show on NBC radio in the 1940’s, much-anticipated appearances on the Ed Sullivan Show, and even headlines performances on Sesame Street. Finished in black with black leather front seat and tan leather in the rear with rear-facing jump seats it is the proper vehicle for a headline performer with multitudinous talents. Its preservation is remarkable; its appeal is as ageless as the memory of its first owner, Victor Borge.
