This Facel Vega HK500 hardtop has been the pride and joy of a single, fastidious owner for the past two decades. Power comes from a Chrysler V-8 with 4-barrel carb and automatic transmission; it is equipped with power steering, power brakes, power windows and a Becker Mexico AM-FM-cassette stereo. A 1961 model, it has disc brakes, Rudge wheels with trim rings, black wall tires, European vee-taillights. The owner has added seat belts with diagonal shoulder belts while retaining the correct Facel steering wheel. An honest, proper car; it has received cosmetic and mechanical attention and needed restoration consistently without ever being taken apart. Its livery, silver-grey paint with red leather upholstery and interior trim, is nicely complemented with attractive wood interior trim and the correct knobs, gauges, handles and headliner. The engine compartment is done right, has the correct carburetor and air cleaner and carefully detailed in factory correct finishes. The paint is sound and very presentable while the interior, redone a few years ago, is beginning to develop an attractive patina from limited use and good care. This HK500 has enjoyed a pampered life in the hands of caring, informed owners and, although it is not without flaws, it is in many respects a better, more sound car than if it had been restored. It is a superb driver that its next owner will be proud to enjoy and to share with others.
