1955 Pontiac Star Chief Convertible

1955 was the first year for Pontiac's V8 engine, a 287 cubic inch overhead valve design that delivered 180 horsepower at 4,600 rpm. In proved itself quickly to be strong, reliable and capable of being tuned and developed for much greater performance. Only two years later Pontiac's V8 made 315hp in the fuel injected 347 cubic inch Bonneville. The 1955 Pontiac also was completely redesigned introducing distinctive Pontiac styling features that would continue to distinguish Pontiacs for several years to come. This 1955 Star Chief convertible is hard to miss in Red and White with matching interior and a White vinyl convertible top. It is equipped with an automatic transmission, radio, clock, heater, wheel covers, wide whitewall tires and stainless steel fender skirts and rear fender shields. It has been a California car for many years and needs nothing to be a great driver for the upcoming cruising season. The trunk is immense, as well as clean and attractively trimmed with red carpet that matches the interior [in the past trunks this large were frequently used to smuggle friends into the drive-in without paying admission, and still could be ... if an operating drive-in movie can be found.] This is a car that is ready to be used and enjoyed with pride and pleasure.
