1954 Jaguar XK120

The Jaguar XK 120 was conceived as a show car to highlight Jaguar's new 3.4 liter dual overhead camshaft six-cylinder engine. It was never intended to reach series production but its reception at the 1949 London Motor Show in the fall of 1948 quickly changed Jaguar's plans. The sleek envelope body designed by Jaguar's William Lyons set new standards of streamlined design and obliterated a generation of attractive but rectangular British sports car designs. First introduced as a roadster with handmade aluminum bodies, Jaguar quickly tooled up for production in steel to be followed in the summer of 1951 by the fixed head coupe with its distinctive rounded profile that carried through Jaguar's new Mark VII saloon and would become a hallmark of Jaguar designs to the present day. This 1954 XK 120 Fixed Head Coupe is a late production model and is equipped with standard steel wheels, black wall tires, an elegant wooden dashboard, instrument panel, window and door trim and the rear wheel "spats" that were standard equipment on steel wheel Jags. It is an attractively restored car with good cosmetics, paint, chrome, engine compartment and grey leather upholstered interior. It also is fitted with a pushbutton radio. The Grey metallic paint shows off the Fixed Head Coupe's lines to advantage. This is an excellent, attractive driver that shows to advantage and will be a delight on the road.
